30 DAY PALEO CHALLENGE

Welcome to Four Barrel CrossFit’s 30 Day Paleo Challenge! We’d like to open with a quote from the folks over at Whole9. We’d try to paraphrase, but we simply can’t say it any better…

“We cannot possibly put enough emphasis on this simple fact – the next 30 days will change your life. It will change the way you think about food, it will change your tastes, it will change your habits and your cravings. It could, quite possibly, change the emotional relationship you have with food, and with your body. It has the potential to change the way you eat for the rest of your life.” –Whole9

Now, to keep this simple we need to fit 40lbs of sh*t in a 10lb bag, so we’re sticking with bullets:

How to Participate

To signup, leave a response to this post stating “I’m in”
Pay the $10 entry fee next time you’re in the gym
Eat pure Paleo for 30 days
Pay a $1 cheat fee into the cheat jar each cheat day
Complete the Paleo Challenge WOD between 1/1 & 1/5. Then again between 1/30 & 2/2.
Have your body fat % recorded by a Four Barrel Coach between the same dates (wear shorts)
Receive a 1pt scoring bonus for before/after photos
*NEW – There will be a male and female winner this challenge

What Can I Eat/Drink?

Vegetables
Lean meat & eggs
Fruit
Nuts & seeds
Healthy fats
Water, coffee, tea

What Should I Avoid?

Added sugar (real or artificial)
Alcohol & tobacco
Grains
Legumes/Soy
Dairy
Processed foods

Improvements To Look For:

Improved sleep quality
Consistent energy levels
Disappearing allergies
Change in body composition
Happier mental state
Better performance

Tips

Throw out all non-Paleo food
Buy your food from local sources
Buy fresh unpackaged foods
Buy free range or wild caught protein sources
Shop the perimeter of the grocery store
Prep your food / plan your meals
Realize that it doesn’t cost more to eat this way
Vegetarians – stick with your common protein sources. Try to cut out everything else processed
