Achievements because of CrossFit (mental & physical):
I’ve lost 26lbs since beginning at Four Barrel Crossfit. Although I often wake up sore from the previous WOD, I never wake up with an aching back like I did on a daily basis prior to joining. Crossfit has gotten me back into exercises I haven’t done since playing Division I college football. I haven’t felt this good since my early 20’s. Running 1-4 miles is actually fun now, and not a nightmare.
Why did you start CrossFit?:
In my late 30’s I knew I was getting into a rut where I was just going through the motions in the big box gyms. I found it easier and easier to begin missing a workout here and there, and skipping important strength movements (squats, deadlifts, shoulder press, etc…). As a result my weight began to increase, and my fitness level declined rather rapidly. Having numerous knee surgeries and reconstruction in high school and college I knew I had to make a change for both my health and mobility as I become older. My cousin talked me into giving Four Barrel a try.
For the first month, I was nervous driving to the gym, and I knew I was going to be the worst performer at many of the workout elements. I signed my teenage son up to come with me at this same time. At this point, he was LOVING it everyday. I knew I had to stick with it for him, not to mention the fact of how close it has kept us as we accomplish things together! Now, six months later I’m not nervous, and I actually look forward to seeing what I can accomplish that day. In fact, we have made it a family affair as my wife joined 4 months ago, and is accomplishing things she never thought possible, and she is in the best shape of her life at 37 years old. If you’re considering Four Barrel CrossFit, give it a try for at least a month. You’ll LOVE it and the results. Make it a family event, and become stronger, more fit, and closer to one another as you accomplish goals you never thought were possible.
