Hand Care 101

Written By RJ Devite

Let’s talk about hand care.

We’ve seen a substantial amount of callus related discomfort since embarking on the 4B Hang Challenge.

Your goal regarding calluses is to keep them filed down and have a consistent, smooth palm surface, without noticeable ridges or fluctuating thicknesses of skin through daily hand maintenance. A raised, rough callus will eventually blister and tear away from the surrounding skin, ripping open your hands.

A general rule of thumb: If your callus is causing you discomfort or you can pinch a raised edge of the callus, it needs to be filed down. Constant vigilance and regular hand care is key to preventing tears.

You can use a number of different tools to keep your calluses in check, including:

A pumice stone

A Razor Blade
