Kentuckiana’s Fittest 2013

Compete for the crown of the fittest man or woman in Kentuckiana! This is a CrossFit-style competition that will test athletes’ skills across as many physical domains as possible. All athletes will compete in 3-4 workouts throughout the day, with the top athletes moving onto an additional final workout. We will not have a scaled category, but scaling options will be available.

Packet pickup and athlete check-in will be held on Friday 9/27 from 5-8pm and Saturday 9/28 from 6-7am. All athletes must be on site and checked-in by 7am for the athlete briefing and judging standards. The first heat will start promptly at 8am.

Athletes and spectators are encouraged to bring pop-up tents, lawn chairs, and coolers to setup in the Four Barrel Parking lot. During the competition, it will be standing room only inside, so we ask that all bags, gear, chairs, coolers, and strollers be kept outside the venue. We are working on food vendors, but please plan to bring your own food as nothing as been confirmed yet.

The entire Four Barrel parking lot will be sectioned off for tents, vendors, and a warmup area. Event parking will be in a nearby parking lot. We’ll send correspondence once the specific lot has been confirmed.

All athletes will receive a t-shirt with registration along with items from our sponsors. The top 3 male and female finishers will receive prizes.

A portion of this year’s proceeds will go to support Team Red White and Blue

WOD will be scored as two WODs. Double-unders will account for a fully scored WOD, and the 5 min AMRAP will account for another. WOD will be completed outdoors. Each athlete will have one 4’x6′ mat on which to perform double-unders and the AMRAP. The atlas stone and burden logs will have specific locations (markings on the ground) to the side of the mat where they must be returned before moving forward to the next movement. For tips on stone cleans view this video from Rob Orlando. Videos with full movement standards will be posted on this page by the end of the week.

Similar to WOD 1, WOD 2 will be scored as 2 separate events. Fran will count as a fully scored WOD and the C&J will account for another. Females will use a 33lb bar and will have the following plates: 4×45, 2×25, 2×15, 4×10, 2×5, 2×2.5 (total  350lbs). Males will use a 45lb bar and will have the following plates: 4×45, 2×25, 2×15, 4×10, 2×5, 2×2.5 (total  360lbs). Athletes will be responsible for changing their own plates upon completing Fran. If Fran is not completed in under 10min, a 1 second penalty will be added for each rep not completed. If an athlete does not successfully complete a C&J, the athlete’s score will be 0 lbs. For the max C&J, any form of clean & jerk/press will be allowed. Videos with full movement standards will be posted on this page by the end of the week.

Snatches can be power, full, or split. If an athlete does not complete the WOD in under the time cap, a 1 second penalty will be added for every rep not completed. Videos with full movement standards will be posted on this page by the end of the week.

FINAL

The top 6 males and top 6 females will advance on to the final WOD. The final WOD will be announced the day of the competition.

SCORING

Each individually scored workout will carry an equal amount of weight in terms of scoring (even the final). Scores will be assessed by rank in each workout with the overall scoring being the sum of all ranks. The 6 male and female athletes with the lowest total sum of ranks will advance to the final workout. In the event of a tie, the athlete with the highest score in any single workout will move on. After the final, the male and female athlete with the lowest total sum will be crowned the winner. In the event of a tie after the final, the advantage will go to the athlete with the best rank in the final WOD.
